Alcoholism sadly runs through my family, I’ve been told that my grandparents couldn’t function right if they didn’t have a drink. My mother would come home every day from school and would be afraid to bring her friend’s home because my grandmother had such an alcohol addiction and would be passed out drunk on the couch. My grandfather would never pass out from drinking however he would start to get a little violent. Never did he hurt anyone but would randomly throw things when he got angry.  Cause of how my mother grew up she stayed away from alcohol for the most part. She does have a drink every now and then but will never let herself get to the point of being drunk. It is sad how a substance addiction can run through a family. Even though my mother stayed away from alcohol for the most part my sister has become an alcoholic. We have had many days where cops would be involved, hurtful words would be shared, and most of all the scare of her children being taken away. It is sad to say I now have a daughter of my own and my own sister isn’t a loud to be around her alone or to hold her if she has any type of substance in her system. Drugs and alcohol can be a very sad addiction, can ruin family can ruin friendships but most of all ruin your life.
